Overburden Removal at Franklin Aggregates
Location:Frankin, Wisconsin |

Super Western nears completion of the overburden removal at the Franklin Aggregates Quarry.

Job Superintendent Mike Sorkan rewards the hard working crew with a world famous "Sorkan Walleye Fry" on the final Friday at the quarry.  Pete Boerst ran a D-8R dozer assisting Bob Duehning, Rick Handke, Kevin Handke and Michael Piechowski who hauled the overburden in 627 scrapers.  The removal of the overburden is necessary to expose the limestone rock.  After the limestone is exposed, it will be blasted and processed into numerous products from the limestone base course for highway construction to the aggregates used in concrete cement.  Franklin Aggregates is a major supplier of limestone materials to the construction industry.
